Last week, within the framework of the project "Through women's activism and initiatives to gender-inclusive and responsible municipalities", organized by partner organizations, workshops were held on the topic: „"Opportunities for women's participation in the creation and implementation of local policies and the municipal budget.".
With these workshops, we reached over 50 women from different profiles, men and decision-makers in the Municipalities of Shtip, Delchevo and Vinica.
Together we discussed:
The role of women in civic activism;
Formal and informal ways of participating in local policy making;
Involvement in decision-making and budgeting processes;
Characteristics of the local community and assessment of local needs and priorities of women;
Planning and next steps to advance women's participation.

The project „Through women’s activism and initiatives towards gender-inclusive and responsive municipalities“ is financially supported by the Swiss Government through Civica Mobilitas. Civica Mobilitas is a project of the Swiss Government to support civil society in North Macedonia, implemented by the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC), NIRAS from Denmark and FCG from Sweden. The goal of the program is social change in North Macedonia that is driven by a strong civil society sector, active citizens and good cooperation with the authorities, resulting in an expanded civic space, more sustainable civil society organizations and more transparent, accountable and socially inclusive governance at the central and local levels. The opinions expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views of the Swiss Government, Civica Mobilitas or the implementing organizations.
