In Within the framework of the global campaign "16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women", Glasen Tekstilec participated in the panel discussion organized by ECHO - Educational and Humanitarian Organization (EcHO Educational Humanitarian Organization) and the Municipality of Shtip.
Our President Kristina Ampeva spoke about her experiences from daily work with women from labor-intensive and low-paid sectors, and emphasized the deep connection between domestic violence, economic dependence, and workplace violence.
„"In factories, trade, hospitality, cleaning and care, women often have no choice. They work for minimum wage, on short contracts and under constant fear of losing their jobs. This economic insecurity is the main reason why many women cannot leave violent unions with their children. When the salary is not even enough to survive, there is no room for courage."“ – Ampeva.
Ampeva pointed out that the system rarely offers real protection and that mobbing is one of the most common, but also the most difficult to prove, forms of violence against women in the workplace.
The law requires the victim to first endure mobbing for six months before they can file a lawsuit, an absurdity that discourages every woman.
In all these years, there have been only two proven cases of mobbing – both in the public sector, while none in the private sector.
The event was a reminder that the fight against violence against women must also include economic justice,
because poverty and precarious conditions feed injustice.
For women who live and work with dignity.
For a society without fear and silence.
