From August 21 to 23, the international conference "Trade Unions: Workers' Organizations or an Extended Arm of Politics" was held in Bitola, organized by the Independent Police Union.
The conference, which was attended by representatives of several police and other unions from the region, was also attended by Kristina Ampeva from Glasen Sindikat.
The topic of the conference was particularly important and topical. The union should be an independent and strong voice of the worker, and not an extended arm of any government or institution. Its role is to protect the rights and interests of workers, to be corrective and always openly react when workers' rights are threatened.
As part of the conference, a meeting of the Balkan Police Union was also held, at which the current situation, future activities, as well as the possibilities and process of enlargement of the Union were discussed.
Particularly significant was the presence of representatives of trade unions from the region as official guests at the celebration of the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) Day in Bitola.
