On June 16, the first public presentation and advocacy forum titled "The Voice of Women in the Municipal Budget" was successfully held in Vinica. This significant event for the local community was organized by The INI Association, in close cooperation with partner organizations Glasen Tekstilec и ECHO.
The forum was held within the framework of the project „"Through women's activism and civic initiatives to gender-inclusive and responsible municipalities"“. The main goal of the event was to highlight the importance of citizen involvement in the process of creating municipal budgets, with special emphasis on the needs of women, girls and vulnerable categories of citizens.
During the forum, three key civic initiatives that have already been submitted to the Municipality of Vinica were presented in detail to the attendees. These initiatives are aimed at substantial and positive changes in the daily lives of residents:
Campaign to raise public awareness about gender-based and domestic violence: An initiative that directly targets one of the most pressing problems, with the aim of educating, preventing and protecting women and girls in the municipality.
Improving accessibility for people with physical disabilities and mothers with children: Request for the removal of architectural barriers to enable unhindered and safe movement of these groups of citizens.
Marking parking spaces for people with physical disabilities and mothers with children: Initiative for appropriate marking of parking spaces in front of key public buildings and institutions in Vinica.
These proposals are not just administrative requests, but real steps towards creating a safer, more accessible and truly inclusive municipality.
We continue to actively work, advocate, and strengthen the voice of citizens. Only through joint activism can we build responsible institutions and a community that cares for all.
The forums are part of the project "Through women's activism and civic initiatives to gender-inclusive and responsible municipalities", implemented by Glasen Tekstilec in partnership with EHO educational and humanitarian organization and the Initiative of Unemployed Intellectuals.
The project is supported by the Government of Switzerland through Civica Mobilitas.
