On March 7, 2025, the National Conference on Gender Equality and Discrimination in the Workplace, organized by Glasen Tekstilec, was held in Shtip.

🗣️ Our conference speakers were:

  • Kristina Ampeva, president of Glasen Tekstilec;
  • Mile Boshkov, Executive President of BKM;
  • Vinka Mirchevska Pravulovich, worker;
  • Prof. Dr. Lazar Jovevski, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Labor and Social Policy;
  • Mile Stojanovski, Ministry of Economy and Labor;
  • Limko Bejzaroski, President of the KSZD;
  • Maja Cvetanovska, State Labor Inspectorate.

The conference opened a constructive discussion on the challenges faced by female workers, mechanisms for protection against discrimination and the need for systemic changes. Representatives from various sectors shared their experiences so far, successful examples, but also issues that remain unresolved within the framework of the existing legislation.

-We will remember a year ago that we had a case where a pregnant worker's employment contract was not extended, later those same employers published a new advertisement for the same job position and finally we had a case to prove after 30 years that together with the Commission for Protection and Prevention of Discrimination, those fixed-term contracts are used precisely for that reason. If a female worker uses sick leave to care for a child, if she is pregnant or similar, those contracts are used to ensure that their employment contract is not extended, said Ampeva.

The National Conference is part of the project "Institutional and Economic Empowerment of Women and Girls from the Eastern Region 2", which is implemented by the association for the protection of workers' rights Glasen Tekstilec from Shtip. The project is financially supported by The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation and Sweden. The content of this publication is the sole responsibility of Glasen Tekstilec Shtip.
