In the period from August 23 to 25, 2022, a workshop was held in Veles to create an Action Plan for Glasen Tekstilec for the period from October 2022 to December 2024.
The workshop was attended by members, founders, volunteers, employees and several textile workers. All present had the opportunity to give their input and propose their own activities, led by the trainer who created our action plan, Igor Jadrovski, who has many years of experience in the civil sector. Their contribution is especially important to us as a civil society organization, which was formed by human rights activists and textile workers.
What is an action plan?
It is a document with a detailed list of steps and activities that need to be taken to achieve the previously established goal. The main goal of the existing plan is to design, implement and coordinate comprehensive activities aimed at achieving the strategic goals of the association. The activities in the plan are planned to be implemented in the period 2022-2024. The action plan is very important for the proper organization of work and planning of activities in civil society organizations.
Our action plan contains four goals:
Objective 1: Legal and paralegal empowerment of textile workers (legal program, paralegal program, complaints, unionization, monitoring of court proceedings and DIT);
Goal 2: Promotion of workers' rights (Textiliade, youth for human rights, workshops, cultural events, campaign, calculation of a living wage);
Goal 3: Advocacy (local government, DIT, PRO, employers, ESC, LESC, commissions, ministries, advocacy before relevant ministries and commissions, international advocacy with brands, international advocacy before OOH, crisis and Covid-19);
Goal 4: Fundraising and self-sustainability (tracking calls, mapping donors, writing applications, hiring a fundraiser, networking with partner organizations, developing a fundraising strategy);
The action plan is the result of joint work by the association's employees, the association's volunteers, the textile workers who are the association's target group, and a hired external consultant.
Stages of preparation of the action plan: In the first phase from the preparation of the Action Plan, the external consultant developed a methodology and concept for the workshop for the preparation of the action plan, which were later approved by Glasen Tekstilec and the project team. The methodology included specifying the strategic goals, analysis of actors, key factors, potential partners and blockers in the implementation of the action plan (stakeholders analysis matrix), work in groups to define activities, define roles and responsibilities for implementing the activities, define a time frame (short-term, medium-term and long-term activities), set measurable indicators for each of the activities, determine the necessary resources and source of financing for the activities, determine tools and methods for verifying the indicators. Furthermore, three days were foreseen (second phase) for collecting information from the workshop and five days for preparing the final document and submitting the report.
The detailed Action Plan of the Association for the Protection of Workers' Rights will be publicly published on our website, as soon as it is voted on at an Extraordinary Assembly with the members of the organization during September 2022.
This activity is part of the project "Organized Citizens for an Organized Future", which is implemented by the association for the protection of workers' rights "Glasen Tekstilec" - Shtip.
