As part of our study visit to Tirana, Albania, organized by Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC), we held a round table to present the analyses of occupational safety and health in the textile industry that were carried out over the past 6 months in both countries. And, in both countries this topic has not been discussed so far, we hope that this is just the beginning and we will work together further, all with the aim of improving the situation. The event was attended by representatives of institutions who gave introductory speeches:

▶️ Luljeta Krasta, Minister of Finance and Economy,

▶️ Gazmend Nelaj, inspector at the Health Inspectorate,

▶️ Johan Schmid, Regional Manager for Western Balkans from Olof Palme Center.

The following also gave presentations on the topic:

▶️ Kejsi Gaxha, co-author of the analysis on Albania,

▶️ Kristina Ampeva from Glasen Tekstilec,

▶️ Mirela Argimandriti, executive director of #GADC.

Also representatives of relevant institutions:

▶️ Eda Brahimaj, representative from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Albania,

▶️ Goran Popovski, representative from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Macedonia (State Labor Inspectorate),

▶️ Gentian Muça, Health and Safety Management Expert Albania,

▶️ Milan Petkovski, expert on occupational safety and health in Macedonia,

▶️ Edvin Prençe, representative from Pro Export Albania,

▶️ Kol Nikolla, representative from KSSh, Trade Union as well as a discussion with the other participants at the event.

🚌 The next activity was a visit to the textile factory in the famous Albanian area of “Bathore”. Where our textile workers had the opportunity to talk with their colleagues from Tirana.

☕The conversation continued at a coffee meeting, where the workers discussed working conditions in both countries.
